Military Tours and Alcohol Use Study
Drinking Motivations, Alcohol Consumption, Alcohol Related Problems, and Military Community Factors across Different U.S. Military Tour Types
Researcher is recruiting active-duty U.S. service members for an anonymous online study examining how different military tour types (CONUS, OCONUS, and remote/unaccompanied tours) are associated with drinking motivations, alcohol consumption, alcohol-related problems, and military community factors, including peer and leadership norms and pressures, alcohol accessibility, and the availability of non-alcohol-related activities.
Participation involves completing a confidential online survey that takes approximately 10–20 minutes at this link: https://redcap.usuhs.edu/surveys/?s=RLMHEP9NW978ADEC
Eligibility Criteria Include:
- Are 18 years of age or older -
- Are a United States active duty military member
- Currently consume alcohol at least once monthly
- Have been at your current military duty station for at least 6 months
The findings from this study will help improve understanding of how military assignments influence alcohol-related behaviors and experiences and may inform future prevention, intervention, and support efforts across the Department of War.
